Texas Scramble is a team game where everybody tees off on each hole and the best shot is chosen. Everybody then plays from there and so on...:

• Everybody hits from the tee
• The team then decides on which ball is in the best position for the next shot
• Each team member then plays from the selected position
• This process is repeated until the ball is holed out
• One score is recorded for the team on each hole

For example, all players hit from the tee. Player B's drive is selected as being in the best position, all players play from there and Player A's ball is then selected for the next shot as being in the best position. All players putt from Player A's position and Player D holes the putt. The team record a 3 as their score for the hole (Player B's Drive, Player A's 2nd shot and Player D's putt).

Team Format

• Each team consists of 4 players
• The team's handicap is calculated as 5% of the combined Handicap index for stroke play
• Each Handicap Index is rounded to the nearest whole number, added together and divided by 20
• This is then rounded to 1 decimal place as the Team Handicap

Example: Handicap Indices: 12.4, 4.7, 22.6, 25.1. Total: 12 + 5 + 23 + 25 = 65

65/ 20 = 3.25

=> Team Handicap = 3.3

Any Players who have never held a Handicap will be given a Handicap of 24. If a Player doesn't currently hold a Handicap, they will be required to play off their previous handicap if this is less than 24.

The Longest Drive will be on 9th Hole (separate competition for Men & Ladies). The Drive must finish on the fairway to be deemed eligible. The Longest Drive is open to all Players, regardless of whether or not their quota of Tee Shots has been used (in some cases, the Longest Drive may be recorded as such but not selected for play by the team)

The Nearest The Pin will be on 4th Hole. The Nearest the Pin is open to all Players, regardless of whether or not their quota of Tee Shots has been used (in some cases, the Nearest the Pin shot may be recorded as such but not selected for play by the team). Cards must be signed by at least two of the Team Members and returned to the Cards Box at the Office in Bomore Carpark.

Competition Placings will be decided on Nett Stroke Scores. Nett Stroke Score = Actual Strokes - Handicap Allowance (rounded to the nearest whole number). In the case of a tie, the unrounded Handicap Allowance will be used. In the case where there is still a tie, the Placings will be deemed equal and prizes shared. (In the case of a tie for 1st Place, a draw between the two teams to select the winning team)

Committee Decisions Final. In all cases of dispute, the decisions made by the Relay For Life Sligo Golf Classic Committee shall be final.

Presentation of Prizes will take place in the Clubhouse at 9:30pm followed by entertainment, craic and banter until late.

Please mark each Player's Name & Handicap Index on the Scorecard in positions Player A, B, C and D

Gents will play from the White Tees, Ladies will play from the Red Tees and Juniors (Under 12 years old and holding a Junior Handicap only) will play off the Green Tees.

The chosen shot MUST BE PLAYED AS IT LIES (no placing/ dropping), the other players then place within 6" when on the fairway, place within 1 clublength in the bunker or drop within 1 clublength from knee height when in the rough, in all cases not nearer the hole. If the chosen shot is from the rough or bunker, each of the other three shots must be played from the rough or bunker as applicable (the 1 clublength cannot be used to get to the fairway or out of the bunker). Bunkers can be raked before the next shot is played.

Each chosen shot must be marked with a tee/ coin etc. BEFORE the first player hits. This applies in all situations (fairway/ rough/ bunker/ green). Failure to do so will result in that shot being automatically selected for the next play. For example, if Player A's shot is selected on the Green and marks his ball. He then putts very close to the hole and then "taps it in", Players B, C & D will not get the chance to putt from Player A's marker because his tap in putt will be deemed to have been selected and played as the next shot.
